It started at Babington House in Somerset, one of the first Soho House properties to open back in 1998. Obviously the top Soho House membership benefit, and the reason most people join, is to access the houses across the world. It’s the most affordable option and allows you to stay at any of the houses, but you won’t be able to visit if you aren’t spending the night. And whilst the restaurant remains relatively unchanged, Soho House has established itself as a global brand. Or, simply to while away the evening with good conversation and a picante. Whatever you think of the numbers – which you can crunch all you like – there is an experience at the heart of it all, which some members are very clearly finding lacking.

There’s a long list of applicable cities to choose from, and the prices are listed below. There’s options to pay yearly, quarterly or monthly depending on which location you choose. An U27 membership is about half the price of a full membership, so you’ll pay between £52 – £121 per month depending on your location.
House Membership
The GlassHouse salvo, which accused Soho House of running “a broken business model” and “terrible accounting”, sent shares in the company down 19% on the day of the report in February. The shares have recovered to $5.97, to value the business at about $1.2bn, but are still down from the $14 its shares were floated at on the New York stock exchange in July 2021. It’s a brilliant bar in the heart of Soho where I’ve had some of my favourite nights out, it’s pure escapism in the countryside at Soho Farmhouse, it’s rooftop drinks in Rome, and seaside lounging in Barcelona. If you knew you were mostly going to be visiting Soho House with one person (maybe your partner or a close friend), you could apply for one membership and split the cost between the two of you.
The Guardian trailed the news this week, noting GlassHouse’s forceful put down of the Soho business strategy. In a report, the New York traders suggested it might be heading in the same direction as WeWork, the tragic shared working provider that collapsed into bankruptcy. The new Portland Soho house includes a restaurant with a menu from chef Matt Sigler, of the now-closed Portland restaurant Renata.

That same year, Los Angeles got its own Soho House in West Hollywood. This one, located in an office tower, quickly became the hangout for the creative set of Jones’s dreams, despite not having a pool, spa, or gym.
